Bill O’Reilly, Amazingly, Defends White Power

Bill has rarely put it so clearly.

Fox News host Bill O’Reilly argued Tuesday that calls to abolish the Electoral College were a cover for the liberal agenda of taking power “away from the white establishment.”

“The left sees white privilege in America as an oppressive force that must be done away with,” the Fox pundit told his “The O’Reilly Factor” audience. “Therefore, white working-class voters must be marginalized, and what better way to do that than center the voting power in the cities?”

He was referring to editorials in papers like the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times (that Trump would of course call “failing—sad!”) that call for eliminating the Electoral College because it distributes voting power unequally among residents of different states.

The article on Talking Points Memo I just quoted from goes on to report on O’Reilly’s thoughts this way:

The New York Times’ board was open about the intent of making the votes of Americans in large states like California and New York count equally to those of the smaller states currently favored by the Electoral College system.

“The system as it now operates does a terrible job of representing the nation’s demographic and geographic diversity,” the board wrote in a Tuesday editorial. “Almost 138 million Americans went to the polls this year, but Mr. Trump secured his Electoral College victory thanks to fewer than 80,000 votes across three states: Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.”

The Times also noted that Trump himself once supported doing away with the Electoral College, and that many other Republicans have endorsed doing so.

Yet according to O’Reilly, these calls are an effort to lock in Democratic governance and erode the longstanding, rightful concentration of power in the hands of white men.

Liberals believe “that white men have set up a system of oppression and that system must be destroyed,” he said.

“The left wants power taken away from the white establishment and they want a profound change in the way America is run,” he added.

Well, yes, the Left does want a profound change in the way America is run. It’s called “One Person One Vote,” I think—not a very radical idea, once upon a time.
